Aer Lingus remained the top of the OTP league table for December
, achieving 88.4% on-time performance, two percentage points higher than runner-up for the month BA CityFlyer.
Low cost carrier flybe dropped one position for the month into third place for the month with 83% OTP, while easyJet climbed once place into fourth place.
In terms of the year to date analysis, BA CityFlyer rose to the top of the league table again with 87.7% OTP, Aer Lingus slipping into second place with 84.4% OTP, with other airlines in largely unchanged rankings compared with the year to November statistics.
Overall scheduled flight punctuality in December 2012 fell sharply by over 12 percentage points to 73.0% compared with November 2012, but was over 8 percentage points higher than the 3-year December average.
Monarch scheduled flights still had the poorest timekeeping with only around 62% OTP for December and less than 64% OTP for the year to date, over 16 percentage points less than the UK average, a position held every month for the carrier during 2012.
For UK Charter airlines the rankings were unchanged, Thomson Airways achieving first position once again in December with 74.0% OTP, followed by Thomas Cook Airlines (71.9%) and Monarch Airlines charter flights (48.5%). The same ranking was evident in the year to date charter statistics.
