bmi regional and BA CityFlyer vie for top position

while Monarch improve in April

bmi regional and BA CityFlyer both achieved a very impressive 94% OTP in our league table for April 2013, while Monarch improved significantly lifting from the bottom of the league table after 15 consecutive months in last place.

Low-cost airline flybe retained third position during April, achieving 91% OTP, with easyJet holding fourth place at 88%, closely followed by Aer Lingus.

For the year to date, bmi regional remain well clear at the top of the rankings with 93.4% OTP, while in second place BA CityFlyer recorded 88.4% OTP, both well in excess of the scheduled flight average for the year at UK reporting airports of 79.1%.

The biggest change for the month was seen for Monarch scheduled flights, having recorded poor OTP for well over a year (averaging just 64% over the last 12 months), the airline lifted clear of the bottom of the OTP league table by one place in April with 80.3% OTP, almost identical to the UK scheduled flight average for the month.

Below Monarch at the bottom of the league table for April, British Airways were in last place with 77.7% OTP.

Among UK Charter airlines Thomson Airways retained top position in April, establishing a clear lead for the month with 85.4% OTP, followed by Thomas Cook Airlines in second position (79.5%) and Monarch Airlines charter flights in third (78.8%). In a similar pattern seen for their scheduled flights, Monarch charter services saw a large improvement in timekeeping during April.

For the year to date the same pattern was evident among the charter carriers, Thomson charter flights being the most punctual with 80.6% OTP, followed by Thomas Cook and Monarch.
