Our Data

The site has been updated with data for the first three months of 2015 now analysed for scheduled and low cost airlines, and across over 70 Key Routes from London Airports.

BA CityFlyer flights had the best timekeeping among the 35 largest scheduled airlines at UK Reporting Airports, recording an average delay of 6.9 minutes, ahead of Finnair with 8.1 minutes and Aer Lingus with 8.2 minutes.

The poorest performance for the period was seen for Emirates flights, which were held up for 21.1 minutes on average, with only 56% on-time performance. Air Canada were second from bottom, along with Loganair both recording an average delay of 18.4 minutes.

Analysing low cost airlines in isolation it was a close contest during the first three months of the year, with Monarch Scheduled jumping to the top of the rankings with an average delay of 9.6 minutes, followed by easyJet (10.7 minutes) and flybe (10.9 minutes). Jet2 flights had the longest delays recording 15.2 minutes on average at the bottom of the low cost league table.

Highlights from the Key Routes section showed that flybe became the most punctual carrier between London and Dublin, one of the busiest city pairs in the world. BA CityFlyer reclaimed top place between London and Edinburgh, while Virgin Atlantic stayed in the lead of the timekeeping chart between London and New York, the busiest transatlantic route.

New Site Sections

This was the first major site-wide update published analysing punctuality data at 24 UK Reporting Airports, an increase of 14 new analysis points compared with previous datasets, which effectively provides almost complete national coverage.

As a result we have been able to add three airlines to our detailed route-level analysis:

 - Loganair
 - Norwegian Air Shuttle
 - Wizz Air

We have also been able to restart route-level analysis for Eastern Airways flights, and have commenced analysis of an increasing number of scheduled flights operated by Thomas Cook Airlines.

In our scheduled airports analysis, where a league table of airline punctuality is published at UK reporting airport level, we have added a dedicated page for each of the 14 new airports now reporting punctuality data through the CAA:

 - Aberdeen Airport
 - Belfast City Airport
 - Belfast International Airport
 - Bournemouth Airport
 - Bristol Airport
 - Cardiff Airport
 - Doncaster Sheffield Airport
 - Durham Tees Valley Airport
 - East Midlands Airport
 - Exeter Airport
 - Jersey Airport
 - Leeds Bradford Airport
 - Liverpool Airport
 - Southampton Airport

Further information about the changes arising from an increased analysis are available in our recent news article covering the topic.
