Scheduled flight OTP at a record low in July -

easyJet still in last place; bmi regional lead

Scheduled flight on-time performance fell by 5.2 percentage points month-on-month to just 69.6% on average in July 2015, a significant fall and the worst overall level seen in over four years.

bmi regional climbed three places in the ranking to lead the OTP league table for July among UK & Ireland carriers, achieving 86.1% on-time performance for their flights at 24 UK Reporting Airports, some 16 percentage points above the national average.

Eastern Airways followed in second position for the month with 83.9% OTP.

At the bottom of the league table for the third consecutive month, easyJet flights at UK Reporting Airports suffered another decline in timekeeping to 59.9% OTP, a performance hardly ever witnessed for a major airline in our 11 years of reporting punctuality data.

British Airways flights weren't far behind easyJet with only 62.3% operating on time during July.

For the rolling year to 31 July 2015 BA CityFlyer remained in first position recording 86.1% OTP, nine percentage points better than the UK average during the period. bmi regional were in second place for the year with 85.3% OTP, while at the bottom of the table easyJet and British Airways were the only analysed airlines falling significantly below the UK OTP average for the period, both recording 73.8% OTP.

Overall charter flight OTP among all airlines at UK airports fell again in July 2015 compared with the previous month, to 70.1%. Thomas Cook charter flights were in first position with 76.9% OTP for the month, a sizeable lead over Thomson Airways charter flights which achieved only 69.2% OTP.

For the rolling year to 31 July 2015 the charter airline rankings were unchanged, with Thomas Cook (77.2% OTP) leading over Thomson Airways (73.5% OTP).
